WASTED: Drunk female lawyer strips and throws underwear at confused policemen

A New York lawyer who is accused of not paying a $6 taxi fare, exposing herself to police and verbally abusing them said she got drunk after breaking up with her boyfriend.

Stephanie Hendricks, 39, was in Brooklyn in the early hours of Saturday morning after a night out with friends when police were called after she ran away from a cab without paying.
Police found her in a Williamsburg deli, where she stripped from the waist down before exposing herself to police and lunging at them while unleashing a string of profanities.
The incident was captured on the deli surveillance video.

The deli owner, Mohammad Rahman, 54, told the New York Post: ’Normally we don’t see people cursing a police officer. But then she opened her clothes in front of the police officer, in front of us. She looked crazy.
‘She…showed everything to the cop…She had no panties.
‘The cops were saying, “Calm down, lady. Calm down. Be cool”,’ Rahman said.
She allegedly shouted at police: ‘Eat my ass you f___ing pigs.’

She explained her actions to the Post, saying: ’My boyfriend broke up with me. I went out. I got drunk. I had a bad night.

‘It was obviously an altercation, but I have no recollection from a certain point in the evening.
‘Everyone was in a festive mood. Things were flowing. Then things got out of control. I was wasted — all caps bold. You couldn’t get bigger, all caps bold, wasted.’

Explaining her actions to the Post she said: ‘My boyfriend broke up with me. I went out. I got drunk. I had a bad night. It was obviously an altercation, but I have no recollection from a certain point in the evening’ The bio on her practice’s website says she was born in Jamaica and grew up in New York and Atlanta.

‘Her spirit of adventure led her to attend law school in Oregon, and she thoroughly enjoyed living in the Pacific Northwest for several years,’ it states.
‘However, her roots led her back to the East Coast in 2009, and she is now a member of the Brooklyn Heights community.’

A man was tragically killed by an oncoming train after he jumped in front of it in order to retrieve his fallen iPhone, according to a statement released by the New York Police Department.

The man, who was identified as a Bronx DJ, dropped his iPhone on the subway tracks, but was electrocuted after he was too impatient to wait for a worker to retrieve it for him, police said.
Francisco Diego, Jr. notified a tollbooth clerk that he had dropped the smart phone shortly before 1:10 am, police said.

She told him to wait while she would help him retrieve it.
However, the impatient man jumped into the tracks when a train arrived on the scene. Diego positioned himself in between two cars and tried to grab his phone, only to electrocute himself on the third track, police said.

The train then drove over the man.
Emergency workers rushed the man to Jacobi hospital, but doctors could not save the man, police said.
Diego worked as a security guard and was one of twelve children, according to a statement released by his family. He lived in Foxhurst section of the Bronx and loved to deejay.
He went by the name DJ Tech Trackz, the family said.
“He was a hard worker. Everybody loved him,” his sister, Melissa Diego, 26, said. “He lived and breathed music, he made music all the time, and he loved to party,” his sister also said.

Poisoning A Family Member As Revenge For Not Being Invited To A Shopping Trip

A Woman was arrested after poisoning her family as revenge after they went shopping without her.
Ann Marie Haines, 41, of Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, is behind bars for allegedly poisoning burritos and then feeding them to her family.
Haines allegedly added different medications to the dinner she cooked on Tuesday night because her husband and her daughter did not invite her when they went shopping for a new car, police said. Investigators said Haines took medication, crushed it and put them in the burritos, which she then gave to her husband and daughter.
After the pair felt dizzy and tired, they were taken to a hospital in order to be checked out. When Haines’ husband confronted her about the food, she became aggressive and said she was going to hurt them when they went to bed, according to court documents.
Haines was charged with reckless endangerment, assault and harassment. Her bail was set at $25,000.

UEFA Plans To Boost Europa League: Find Out How!

UEFA is set to announce on Friday a change to Europa League rules that will award the winners a place in the Champions League - but it is as yet unclear what afftect it could have on teams who qualify via league position.

The regulations of European competition run on a three-year cycle, the latest of which began in 2012. Any changes agreed will not take effect for another two seasons, meaning the winners of the 2015 Europa League final in Warsaw would be the first beneficiaries.
UEFA's executive committee, meeting in London ahead of the Champions League final, is eager to find a way to add greater importance to the Europa League amid concerns that teams from some of the major leagues do not take the competition - which replaced the UEFA Cup in 2009 - seriously enough.

The organisation's president Michel Platini has criticised French clubs' attitude to the competition, with Marseille, runners-up to Valencia in Gothenburg in the 2004 UEFA Cup, the only side to make the final of the top two competitions in the last 14 seasons.
Clubs in Italy, who used to dominate European football's secondary competition, rarely make any kind of impact, with Parma the last Italian team to reach the final, beating Marseille in Moscow in 1999.

UEFA will also consider raising to five the limit on the number of sides from one association in the Champions League, having for many years ruled that there should be a maximum of four.
Increasing the number of teams from the major nations would go against Platini's masterplan to make the Champions League more accessible to teams from smaller nations, which enabled clubs such as APOEL Nicosia to make giant strides. There is likely to be opposition to England, Germany and Spain being allowed a fifth participant.

The only time this number has been exceeded was in 2005, when Liverpool won the Champions League but finished fifth in the Premier League.
UEFA then had no rule to cover the Champions League winners not also qualifying via their league position. The Premier League insisted it would still enter the top four league clubs, meaning UEFA was forced to create a space in the first qualifying round for Liverpool, with no country protection for the Anfield club in the draws. This resulted in Liverpool and Chelsea both being drawn in Group G - a first for the competition.

But UEFA closed that loophole the same summer, ruling that if the Champions League winners come from an association that has four places, but that team finished outside the top four in the league, then the fourth-placed team drops into the Europa League. Spurs therefore played in the Europa League in the current campaign despite finishing fourth last season after Chelsea won the Champions League but finished sixth in the league.

If UEFA does not increase the maximum number of teams from one association from four to five, then a change to the Europa League regulations could impact on the nations that have four places via their domestic league - currently England, Germany and Spain.
Atletico Madrid, for instance, won the Europa League in 2012 but then only finished fifth in La Liga. With a limit of four clubs per country, Atletico winning a place in the Champions League would have relegated Malaga into the Europa.

The situation becomes further complicated should clubs from outside the top four of one league win both the Champions League and Europa League. The teams finishing in third and fourth would therefore have to compete in the Europa League the following season. It is highly improbable, though, that UEFA would ever permit six clubs from one association to enter the Champions League.
What is certain is that if the Europa League winners have already qualified for the Champions League, then the Europa League runners-up will not be entitled to enter the elite competition.
It has also been announced that the 2015 Champions League final will be played in the German city of Berlin, with the Europa League final in Warsaw, Poland.

SOE: Soldiers arrest 120 suspected Boko Haram members at burial of sect commander

Soldiers have arrested 120 members of the Boko Haram group who were making arrangements for the burial of one of their commanders killed in confrontation with the military, new reports say.
“The arrested insurgents are in custody of the Joint Task Force where they are being interrogated,” the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Chris Olukolade said in a statement .
“The Special Forces have now secured the environs of New Marte, Hausari, Krenoa, Wulgo and Chikun Ngulalo after destroying all the terrorist camps sited in the vicinity of these localities. The troops are already interacting with locals and citizens assuring them of their safety and freedom from the activities of insurgents,” the statement read.

“Terrorists fleeing towards Chad and Niger Republic are being contained as they have had encounter with Multi-National Joint Task Force in various locations towards the border. Advancing troops also observed a few shallow graves believed to be those of hurriedly buried members of the terrorist groups. In Maiduguri, about 120 terrorists were arrested as they organized burial of one of their commanders who died in an encounter with Special Forces the previous day.”

On more update from the on-going State of Emergency rule in three Northern states, Vanguard reports:
The curfew imposed on Yobe and Borno states were relaxed, yesterday, just as the military made progress in the campaign against the Boko Haram insurgency in the two states.
Members of the National Assembly belonging to the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN and the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC are today set to break party ranks as they rally support for President Goodluck Jonathan’s proclamation of state of emergency in three states of the Northeast.
Today’s vote in the Senate and the House of Representatives is coming on the heels of the reinforcement of military forces in the three states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa affected by the state of emergency. At least 200 troops were confirmed to have been ferried into Adamawa State on the southern flank of the northeast presently under emergency rule.

Principal officials of the two houses were, locked in preparatory meetings ahead of today’s vote at press time. One of the principal officials in the House of Representatives told Vanguard on the condition of anonymity that the votes to endorse the proclamation would be achieved.

Reps, Senators vote on emergency rule today
At least 240 votes are required to pass the emergency proclamation in the House, while at least 72 votes are required in the senate. The ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has 200 members while the combined strength of the opposition parties is 160.
Despite the insufficient numbers, a ranking PDP member in the House was confident of the House endorsing the emergency proclamation.

In the senate, the PDP was equally confident of clinching several votes from the ACN and CPC ranks. A prominent ACN official confided, yesterday, that many of them would be voting in support of the proclamation as he said that it was the best for the country at this time.
In the Senate, the combined opposition figure of 38 is also set to be breached as a number of opposition senators defy their party whips to vote in support of the proclamation.
Both the ACN and the CPC had last week raised strong objections to the declaration of emergency rule by President Jonathan last Tuesday.

Meanwhile, it emerged that the special forces deployed in Borno State had, yesterday, retaken six towns from the Boko Haram terrorists and destroyed an equal number of camps in those towns.
Meanwhile, Defence Headquarters said it has observed the use of photographs purportedly taken in the areas covered by the operations and “wishes to state that the photographs are questionable as they do not reflect any related reality of the social or geographical environment.

Curfew relaxed
Following relative peace witnessed in some parts of Borno and Yobe states, the JTF has relaxed the curfew in order to ease the hardship being faced by the people, especially the poor masses.
A press statement signed by the JTF Spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa and issued to newsmen in Maiduguri said: “The 24-hour curfew earlier imposed in Gamboru-Customs Area, Mari Kuwait Area of University of Maiduguri, Bakin Kogi Area, Kasuwan Shanu-Kofar Biyu Area have been relaxed from 6am to 7pm”.

Other areas/wards where the 24hours curfew have been relaxed include Ruwan Zafi-Customs Area, 202 Housing Estate, Bama Road, 303 Housing Estate Bama Road, Dikwa Low-cost Housing Estate.
Also affected are Simari-Zannari-Kwanan Yobe Area, 505 Abba Gana Terab Housing Estate,  Muna Garage Road, Chad Basin Muna Garage Road, Baga Road Federal Lowcost Area, Bolori, Jajeri and Umamari Area.

In a related development, the Special Adviser to Governor Ibrahim Gaidam on Press Affairs and Information, Alhaji Abdullahi Bego said: “In view of the relative peace in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital and its environs, the curfew has now been relaxed from 6am to 6pm.”
The statement said, “In view of the need to sustain the relative peace that all parts of the state currently enjoy, His Excellency the Executive Governor Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam  has approved an adjustment of the hours during which public movement is restricted around the state”.
Consequently the statement added that, restriction on movement now starts from 6.00PM to 6.00AM daily throughout the state with effect from today Monday 20th May 2013.

The decision for this adjustment according to Bego follows a meeting that His Excellency the governor had with heads of law enforcement agencies in the state.
Gaidam therefore urged the public to continue with the exemplary support and cooperation with security agents to ensure lasting peace, even as he enjoined the public not to relent in prayers for the restoration of peace in the state and the country in general.

Shocking But True! Man Kills 18ft Snake In Florida

A Miami man briefly wrestled with and ultimately used a knife to kill a Burmese python measuring 18 feet, 8 inches.
That sets a state record for pythons captured or killed in the wild. The previous record measured 17 feet, 7 inches.
Jason Leon was not hunting pythons but, while driving late at night recently in southeast Miami-Dade County, he and a friend spotted about 3 feet of snake protruding from the brush.
Leon applied the brakes, climbed out of the car, grabbed the visible portion of the snake, and began hauling it onto the road.
The giant constrictor responded by trying to wrap its body around one of Leon’s legs, but he was able to dispatch the reptile with a knife.

Burmese pythons are native to grassy marshes of Southeast Asia and can grow to about 23 feet and weigh up to about 200 pounds.
In Florida, where they’ve been released as pets and escaped from wildlife facilities, there are thousands of them, mostly within the Everglades ecosystem.

As such a large and voracious invasive species, they’re a threat to native wildlife. The state would like to eradicate them, if that were possible.
Leon, meanwhile, is being praised.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission issued a news release, in which exotic species specialist Kristen Sommers stated:
“The FWC is grateful to him for both safety removing such a large Burmese python and for reporting its capture…With the help of people like Mr. Leon and our ongoing partnerships with other agencies, the FWC is advancing what we know about Burmese pythons in Florida.”
Leon, who said he once owned Burmese pythons and has experience handling the nonpoisonous snakes, reported the capture via a hotline used for reporting exotic species.

The python was delivered to the University of Florida’s Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center where it was measured and a necropsy was performed.

Arsenal Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis Reassures Fans Over Title Priorities

The Gunners secured Champions League qualification for next season with a 1-0 win over Newcastle, but the club is adamant that will not be the limit of its ambition.

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis insists the club will do everything they can to put the Gunners in a strong position to challenge for trophies.

Arsene Wenger’s men secured Champions League football on Sunday after a run of eight wins in their final 10 Premier League games saw them pip rivals Tottenham to fourth place in the table by a single point. The Gunners went another season without winning a trophy but Gazidis, former MLS deputy commissioner, was full of praise for Wenger’s achievement in making the top four yet again.

“Arsene and the team put together a remarkably strong and consistent run in the final stages of the season, a run of form of which we should all be proud,” Gazidis told the club’s official website. “It puts us into the Champions League fight for the 16th consecutive year.”

After eight years without a trophy fans have started to question the club’s priorities, but Gazidis reassured fans silverware is at the forefront of the organization's plans.

“It is important to reiterate that for everyone at the club, qualification for the Champions League is not our ultimate ambition,” Gazidis said. “Our majority owner Mr. [Stan] Kroenke has made it clear that while it's an achievement to make the Champions League our ultimate objective is to win the major trophies.

“We all share that clear ambition and will be driving the club forward to achieve it. Arsene and I have already been planning what we need to do to strengthen so we are better placed next season.”
